About Kiting Planet

I created this site as a way for readers to learn more about kites and flying them. As I’ve traveled the world, I have seen kite festivals and watched unusual kites being flown and wanted to learn more about them.

As a child, I can remember the joy of flying simple diamond kites with homemade tails on a windy day. I can still remember the thrill of seeing it go higher and higher.

When my kids were younger, they too, got to experience this fun at home in the hills and on our summer trips to the beach. I hope to teach you that kite flying isn’t just for kids.

Safety tips can be found here, as well. Tim Conner, M.D. contributes his insight from his extensive medical experience in traumas. Fortunately kite accidents tend to be minor, but they can usually be avoided. We’ve added Ryan Conner (from AquaSportsPlanet and SnowSportsPlanet) to write about kitesurfing and boating in 2024.
